RANS states that the aircraft manual should be the primary source. Select documents for the correct model and serial-number range before beginning or changing work.

- Aircraft model and serial number
- Engine and relevant installed options
- Manual section already reviewed
- Clear photographs when applicable

Review applicable airworthiness directives, operational alerts, and assembly alerts in addition to the assembly and parts manuals.
